How To Rename Recycle Bin In Windows 10

Recycle Bin is the place that all your deleted files and folders goes after you delete them.

There are two methods how to rename your recycle bin in Windows 10. First method can use every user on the computer to rename his Recycle Bin to for example “Old Mess”. Second method can be use to rename Recycle Bin for all users in one step.


Method 1 – How to rename Recycle Bin for single user:

  1. On your desktop, right mouse click on Recycle Bin and choose Rename
  2. Rename it as you want
  3. Confirm with Enter


Method 2 – How to rename Recycle Bin for all users:

  1. Right click on Start > Run, or press Windows+R to open command prompt
  2. and then type “Regedit” to open the Registry Editor
  3. In the editor find key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
  4. On the right window double click on (Default) and change the name of Recycle Bin
  5. Done, you can close all windows. Recycle Bin is changed for all users.
